Who am I?

Who am I? Thats a deep question....
I am Amanda Lin in 9th grade. My school is PAS. I have a mom, dad, and sister. I like to play sports and sing and act.
This is what I usually say if someone want me to introduce myself, but the thing is, this is not me, at least not the whole me.
I may be a good kid to parents, good student who does her homework in school, but the truth is, I am crazy when I am with my friends. I am optimistic, well most of the time, I am always cheerful. Only my best best friends know that my heart is easily broken and that I am sometimes a very very sad person.
I am like a child, not only my size but how I think and how I act.
I am extremely sensitive. And think way too much.
I am always the psychologists for my friend, but can never treat my own illness.
I have three "brothers". They are not my real brothers, but to me, they are as important as real brothers. They are in this school, Jack, Godwin, and Robert Wang. They are the ones that always comfort me when I am sad. They are the ones that ask me many many times if I am okay because they know I am not. They are the ones who understand me and can always make me smile.
And one more person, that is sooooo important to my life, that I HAVE TO mention her. She is my best best friend- Candy. "I don't really know how to comfort people, but I can just sit by your side and talk to you, and if you don't want to talk, we can just sit there." This is what she told me before. She doesn't know how to comfort me when I cry, but she can always make me laugh. No matter what skills she have, I don't know and don't care. I just know that I need her and that I will never ever forget her no matter where I am.

That I don't usually tell people...
My dream is to stand on a stage and sing for competition. I love signing. And I love music.
This is me. The real me. The real me that only my best friends know about.

If I really had to choose between betraying my friend or my duty, I will rather betray my duty than betraying my friend. Friends are very very important to me. If I didn't have a friend, I wouldn't be very sad and scared. But if it is the friend that did something bad that I can't forgive, then I will rather betray my friend. I trust my friends to be very loyal to because I, myself, is very loyal to my friends, especially best friends like Candy, Jingmin, Misty, and Jean. The issues that I weigh more is whether I think my friend os right or wrong, or how serious the issue is. I know we shouldn't be like this, thinking our friends are more important to us, and get rid of the duty. I know we kids our too childish to think this way. But we are just telling the truth, this is human nature. Most people will pick friends.

The Sniper Quickwrite- Under Stress

Qualities that help people face sad events are hope, hardworking and never giving up. You always need to have hope for everything You have to be optimistic, so that you believe tomorrow will be a better day. You need to work really hard so that you can over come the problems and solve it. And you can never give up on solving it. This year I am a freshman, first year in high school. At first I wasn't used to high school life. Too much homework, teachers' expectation, too much tests, sleep too late. Although that time period is  long one, I am slowly overcoming it. I always wish that one day I will be well organized again, I can sleep early and get good grades. I worked really really hard until midnight everyday. And I never gave up. These qualities helped me get through it.

Poe's Death Quick Write

               I think Poe died from drinking too much alcohol. I propose this because he was drunk on the rainy day so he got sent to the hospital. People doesn't know where he was before he got sent to the hospital, which means that he may be hiding somewhere drinking alcohol and doesn't want anyone to find him. People can be dead because of too much alcohol, it is good for you if you just drink a little bit, but if you drink too much like Poe, you may die.

The differences between the book and the movie

There many differences between the movie and the book of The Most Dangerous Game. One of the examples is that they start from different scenes. The book started when the captain told Rainsford that it is the ship-trap island, but the movie starts with a lot of friends and sailers chatting. The whole boat exploded and everyone fell out, instead of just Rainsford falling down. And also when Rainsford arrived at General Zaroff's house, there weren't any other poeple, while in the movie there were two people.

Thrills

              I don't like and hate scary movies. I don't like them because I am like a coward when it comes across this kind of thing. I don't even go to ghost houses that my school have during Halloween. People like to try to scare themselves because people's live are to boring, and without some exciting and scary things happened in their lives, people will feel bored. Some boys like to show girls that they are strong and bring girls to watch scary movies. Haunted house and roller coasters are activities where people behave this way.

The Necklace After You Read #1

1. Mathilde wants to be rich, she wants to live in a life that she doesn't have to worry about money, and live in a life where she can wear beautiful dresses and jewelry. But she has a poor life, and she doesn't have money to buy a necklace for her to bring it to a party. Her husband was invited to a party where people wears beautiful dresses and jewelry to attend.  Mathilde and her husband bought a very expensive dress for her, and she borrowed a very beautiful necklace from her friend. But after the party she can't find the necklace anymore. So she and her husband went to buy a necklace that is exactly the same, but it is very expensive, so they work really hard for ten years to pay all the money. After the ten years, Mathilde finally told her about this, and she realized that the one her friend gave her is a cheap and fake necklace. All her works are all useless.

               I envy people a lot. It is not like I can control it. But every time I think of what other people have that I really want, I envy them. The most common thing that I envy about is friends. I envy how one person  has a better relationship with one of my friends. I will want to be her, and I will want to do things to change it. I will not be angry at that person whom I am envy at, and I will not treat him or her badly. One of my personality traits is that I think too much. I will think about one thing too much that I believe things that are not true, and then I will feel sad about that. One time, I envy how two of my friends that have all their classes together. But my best friend later think I like to think to much, and I am selfish that I don't want to share friends. This is the negative effect. I know we should not envy people, and I try to stop it, but this is human nature, everyone does it.

Reflection of Term 1

I will try harder on stop talking in class and talking in Chinese this time around. I like the course material- Johnny Tremain". I also like how we use laptops to write things. And I will also study harder for tests so I can get good test grades. I like the video project and the stamp project the best, and writing the "After You Read" the least. I would like to see some fun videos or movie in my english classes. I will also like to see the "Grammar Rocks" videos to help me learn about grammar.

I think the most successful part of this story is how she foreshadowed the result and also how the story ends. i think the result that the murderer died at the same spot he killed Caroline was kind of impossible. I want to know what motivates Terry to kill Caroline, and why is it that he is also the brother of Caroline's roommate.

I think the pressure to be the same comes from personal desires. Maybe someone wants to be like someone, a lot of us do. We sometime wish to be the same as others. But if one have enough self-confident, then he or she won't have any pressure. I think they really prefer to act on their own. Everyone has their own personality, and appearance and this is what makes this world a fun place to be in. If everyone is the same it would be boring. Sometimes people wish to be someone els, but when you really try it, you won't like it. So I prefer being different than the same.

A friends is who is happy when you are happy, comfort you when you are sad, and accompany you when you are alone. Some friendships last longer because maybe they have more common areas, or they substitute the personality they don't have. For example, I may be very outgoing and loud, while my friend-Candy- is very shy and quiet. Friends are the ones that cares about you other than your family. They can also be closer than your family.

                 I didn't really read any mystery story or movie before, but if The Giver counts, that is one really good book.   In this book, people lived in utopia, society that people are all equal. The government assigns who you are going to get married with, which job is suit for you, and who is your child. It also assigns what people wear and whether they can live or die. They can't see any colors. A boy named Jonas lived in this society for all for lives, he don't see how its harmful. When he was the age for him to be assigned a job, he was assigned to be "Receiver of Memory". Everyone was shocked since this job was giver rarely and only to the smart and good kids. Everyone was cheering for Jonas, but no one knows what this job is really about until Jonas step into the special building. His job is to receive memories from the past, which is the world we have now. His job is to have these memories so when the governors have any problems about this society, they can ask his advice. Of course there are good and fun memories, but there are also sad and harmful ones. Now Jonas can see the colors, he can see the sunshine, but he can also see what his society does to the people. And he finally realized that this society will not benefit the people but harm the people. Jonas decided that he will run away with the memories so the people there can have the memories back to them.

               The boy is speaking with a soft Irish lilt. "What? I can't hear you. You have to make your sound audible!"his debate teacher yells at him. This is the fifth time the teacher have to say this. The boy keeps on going, but the teacher still can't hear him. Suddenly the teacher ran to the students and was able to maneuver comfortably and quickly, and hit the student on his head very hard. The other student are all surprised about this revelation. The teacher didn't make discreet remarks or actions, he hit a child! The teacher had just lost his credibility. The red face of the teacher illuminate the whole classroom. The teacher quickly explain that he was just kidding. but he was too late, the boy is already running to the principle, which is his mom.

               When a teenager moves into adult life, he or she faces a lot of fears and conflicts. One of the conflicts and fears is that he or she needs to start to take responsibilities, and that usually causes problems to a teenager. Another conflict is that teenager still wants to be a child, and believes he or she is still a child. This will cause the teenager to do stupid thing and get yelled at because other adults believe he or she is already an adult. Another fear is to take care or yourself. When you are still a child, your parents take care of you. But when you become an adult, you have to take care of yourself. You will hear a lot of people telling you, “You are not a child any more. You are an adult!” And these comments usually cause the pressure of the teenagers.

He saw a frail old woman with a big purse. He stole it successfully, but after he looked into the purse he found out that it is barren. The thief is very sad and he has been arrested.        When my wishes don't come true, I usually feel really sad and angry. When I have to accept a loss or disappointed in love of friendship, I will go find my best friends and cry, while they will comfort me. My life is filled with dreams and wishes, every night I will think about what I wish will or will not happen tomorrow. My wishes are usually about my grades, my friends, or my safety. I will wish that I will get a good grade in the test, wish that my friends won't ignore me, or wish that I will be safe on this vacation. Some of them come true, while others don't. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in Fance because I like Paris. Paris is very beautiful and let me feel romance. I like their culture and how the people there are slow and relaxing. Their food are also very delicious. I am taking French now, and I like the language too.               I think a powerful scene from A Christmas Memory is when the narrator, the little boy, is comforting the old woman. Although there is a big difference between the age of the two cosins, they are still best freinds. And the action of the little boy comforting the old womn shows the friendship between them. The friendship between them is very powerful. No matter how far away they are, even life and death, they will still be best frineds forever.
